open water training

A.N.T. Swimming can offer open water athletes the opportunity to improve their swimming technique adapting the principles from the pool and transferring these to open water swimming whatever level you’re currently at.

If you are just starting out on your first open water event or tackling a 10K we are able deliver a training programme to enhance your performance, increase your stroke effectiveness whatever the water conditions are from sea swimming to navigating around a lake. 

Whatever your event distance we will work with you and your events calendar to produce a balanced training schedule. 

Our training programme will:

• Progressive skill development including energy conservation techniques

• Video analysis if requested

• Individual positive and constructive feed back

• Race tactics

• Navigation techniques including Sighting

• Specific land conditioning guidance

• Nutrition advice

• Mindset Coaching

Our Coaching team has over 4 years of competing in open water events from 1K to full 10K River Dart. 

A.N.T Swimming members will also have the opportunity to have training session which will incorporate Strength and Condition exercise.

We are also able to offer sessions at Open Water Venues across the South West where our training will extend to:

  • Swimming Straight
  • Feeding
  • Athlete Positioning
  • Pace Control
  • Mass starts
  • Proximity
  • Dealing with Anxiety

These venues will include: 

West Country Waterpark, Bristol

Vobster Quay, Radstock, Somerset

Clevedon Marine Lake, Bristol



Open Water Sessions:

Adult £30.00 per hour

Juniors  £25.00 per hour

Open Water Venues:

Cromhall Quarry


Bristol Open Water Centre

Payment must be made by BACS at the time of booking to confirm your place.
